3 Reasons Why You Tend to Overeat

Believe it or not, hunger is not the only reason why we overeat. There can be numerous factors influencing our urge to snack on unhealthy foods. In this article I will reveal some of the most common food triggers and what you should do in order to avoid them.

  1. Smells, sounds, and sights. Did you know that majority of our cravings is a direct result of our senses? You could have just eaten the biggest meal, but the smell of your favorite dessert baking in the oven can make your mouth water with desire. This is because we are greatly influenced by our surrounding. Our senses make us crave foods and distinguish between alluring smells and repelling smells. The only way to avoid these cravings in so stay away from areas of temptation (such as the bakery) and learn to never leave the house on an empty stomach.
  2. Eating while doing other things. Millions of people are guilty of doing this. Whether you are working on the computer or watching TV, chances have you are guilty of multitasking (eating and typing). However, this type of multitasking is anything but beneficial. When we are involved in distracted eating we often pay very little attention to the amount of food we consume. This can lead towards a huge increase in weight. The only way to avoid this problem is to always eat your meals at the kitchen table (or other designated lunch areas).
  3. Avoid the temptation of fast food by always bringing in your own lunch and consuming it before you head outdoors.
