O.K., you've got a Trojan, but you've no estimation how to deal with them. Trojans are the computer pests that generally disguise themselves as required programs, but in reality executes malicious tasks such as establishing unwanted software, backdoors, etc. So a backdoor is the worst you will be able to get – programs that will allow someone else approach your computer without you knowing. Just guess how disappointed you'd be to get back from work and find your hard drive deleted by someone who put the Trojan in your computer.
There are quite an lot programs (free and commercial) around which can help you in removal of Trojans, though none of them addresses complete Trojans, because new ones are existence made each day.

Sending an email seems to be a safe and direct activity – you send a message to a specific person at a specific address, and that person receives and opens the message. However, email is not private communication. It is susceptible to all kinds of hacking and snooping, sometimes by your own coworkers, but mostly by others outside of the company.
While email theft happens rarely, it is more common when there is important information being relayed. In other words, very few people want to eavesdrop about Aunt Matilda's bunion removal – not of interest, like most of the email transactions that go back and forth every day.
